I used to work retail. 7 years to be exact. And for that reason, I can't seem to get into the whole 'shopping before the sun comes up' thing. I can't justify dragging myself out of my cozy, warm bed to go stand in line with a bunch of crazies fighting over 3 dollar DVD's at Best Buy. I just can't.
A department store at the mall I used to work at didn't typically open early on Black Friday (the horror!) . And because of that, we had a lot of customers who were rude or upset because they had to wait until 9am to shop with us, when they've already been shopping for 6 hours. I'll admit- the only perk
Maybe some year I'll venture out at 3 am- but this year I'll be hibernating in my king size bed (with flannel sheets, and warm down comforter) on Black Friday. Will you be shopping on Black Friday? What deals are you standing in line for?

absolutely not! My husband and I ventured out for the first time last year, we were fools and took our kids.... NEVER AGAIN! We didn't even buy anything last year, we left horrified at the crazy people!
Considered it for 5 mins but decided to stick with my tradtion of staying home and decorating for Christmas. Which I find way more enjoyable! : D
Not to mention like you said, my warm comfy bed, flanny sheets and down comforter. Love it!!
We definitely don't do the 3am business.
However, we have historically headed out around 9am to Target to pick up some cheap DVDs for Christmas presents. And DH is a huge movie buff, so it's been worth it. I don't know if it will be this year though!
I usually hit up Old Navy...but online.
Girl, I am so with you. I worked retail for 7 years as well. It was not fun and I now fully enjoy my shopping free, low key Black Friday. :)
I'm with you, Leslie - NO WAY would I go out at midnite Thanksgiving nite to shop in my PJs (I've heard some of the outlet malls are doing that). Honestly - I love sleep more than shopping. There, I said it. I will be home Friday morning, drinking my coffee and having a yummy breakfast, watching the Today show and seeing all the crazies out there at Wal-mart.
I'm liking your idea if staying in the warm bed! I feel like I'm too old to deal with crowds like I used to : )
