The curio cabinet & other Christmas decor.

I finished the curio cabinet and brought it in the house this weekend. I was a little concerned that once I got it back inside the house and under natural lighting that I would really see some flaws in my work. I had been working on it in the garage, and most times under poor florescent lighting. I'm going to toot my own horn here for a sec- the cabinet looks awesome. Even the husband was impressed (I think he was a wee bit scared I might ruin it).

I should also mention that in a previous post, I referred to this cabinet as "giant". My husband was reading that post and started laughing outloud. I asked him what was so funny.

"Um, giant? That's the smallest curio cabinet I've ever seen!"

"Well, It's bigger than me," I replied.
"yeah, that's cause you're a tiny little pip squeak!"

So I suppose it's not that big. Anywho, I love how it turned out, and I think the stain is beautiful! I waited until Cameron's birthday came and went to put up the Christmas tree. So far, he hasn't been too interested in it, but he has a lot of new toys to distract him.

This is how we prevent a 7 1/2 foot Christmas tree from toppling onto our toddler. =)

We don't have a mantle, so I used some pretty ribbon to tie our stockings to the banister. We're totally ready for Christmas now!

The curio looks awesome, you little pip squeak!!!! You did a fantastic job. I would have been totally scared to tackle a feet like this, you should be proud!!!! All the Christmas stuff looks beautiful. Lol at the dumbbells, we have some rocks from the yard shoved into our tree stand to hold the darn thing up straight. Cam's 1 year pics are amazing, he is so handsome!!!!

lol, I love the weights! Riley has left the tree alone for almost 2 weeks, then all of the sudden he won't leave it alone! Drives me nuts! Already broke 2 ornaments :(

I am stealing the weights idea.

To keep your tree secure you can also tie some clear fishing wire to the top part of the tree and attach it to the wall with an eye hook.

And your cabinet looks alwesome!!
