I always have the hardest time trying to figure out creative gifts for Jon. He's the "he already has everything he wants/needs" type. Grill kits and fishing supplies worked for the first few years, but I really like to personalize gifts when I give them. This year I decided to get a little creative for Fathers Day, involving the cutest little boy responsible for giving him the title! Today we set out to Hobby Lobby in search for the letters 'D' and 'A' so that we could do a DAD photoshoot with the letters and put into a nice frame.
To be honest, I wasn't even sure how this would turn out, seeing as a squirmy boy had to hold onto a prop and sit still. I think I took about 30 pictures in less than 5 minutes, hoping that I'd get 3 that would be decent enough to put together. I think we succeeded! I could not get him to smile at all- a task which is usually so easy- but I'm quite happy with the way it turned out, and I think Dad will love it too!
Here are some of the rejects:
Do I have to sit for this?
I put my right arm in! I put my right arm out!
Can you read it upside down?
Can you see me?
WAAAAHH! I JUST WANT A POPSICLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bug!!! Kill it!!!

Love that! If J had a desk or something at work, I would totally do that!
oh my gosh that is so cute! I might have to steal your idea!
Awww that's a really cute idea!!
I totally think you need to use the one where he's peeping through the D. TOO CUTE! So simple and creative!
I also love the one where he is looking through the D. That boy is too cute!
I like the one where he's looking through the D too! I actually put it in place, but I liked how all three of the pictures I used had the letters aligned on about the same level. That one was a little too high compared to the rest.
so cute.. I love this idea!
Jeez this kid is just too cute! And this is a fabulous idea Leslie. I'm bookmarking this post for future reference!!
awww! This is SO cute! What a great gift!
That is a great idea that I may one day steal! lol
I love the one with him peeking thru the D, not sure it should really be on the rejects ;) LOL
this morning I packed up and headed to Home Depot in search for your fabulous letters. I found a D and an A but they're slightly smaller than what you have. Here was my first mistake of the day: Riley (my 21 month old) pooped, and I was THAT mom who had no diaper bag. We get home and try and get these pictures taken, my 6yr old took fabulous shots but Riley would only throw the letter and pout. Oh joy, wish Riley would cooperate a little more like Cameron does! Guess I'll try again for tomorrow!
p.s. not Home Depot - HOBBY LOBBY! Where's my brain today? lol
This may be the cutest thing ever! That last "D" with his tongue is priceless. I'm sure his Daddy will love it!
OMG, how adorable! It turned out perfect and it's a great father's day gift, he will LOVE it.
I can't even believe how grown up Cam is looking, he seems to have went from baby boy to toddler overnight, what a cutie!
I'm a long time lurker but I had to come out of hiding to thank you for this FANTASTIC idea. I was at a complete loss as to what to do for my husband this year and he will LOVE this. I had to have my parents help keep my 17 month old in line but we ended up with some great shots - outtakes included!
