Initially, my goal was to build the bookshelf first, and then build the bed without any really pressing need for it right away; I just wanted to get it done before it was physically impossible for me to finish it. We weren't planning to move him to his new bed until late fall, or near his 2nd birthday in December. We weren't going to that is, until today, when our toddler turned into an escape artist and climbed out of his crib after I put him down for his nap. He opened his door and walked out like he had been doing it for months! I knew this day would come, I just hoped it would be later rather than sooner. I'd convert his crib into the toddler bed right now, but we don't have the kit and ordering it would take awhile, and I could just save the money.
So it's looking like I'm going to have to finish out this bookcase tonight (since the high today is only 93), and get started right away with his bed. Busy weekend ahead!

I'm am so thankful that Riley hasn't figured out how to get out of his bed yet! He'll be 2 in Sept so I'm sure the time will come soon enough! It's been nasty hot here in Kansas City hasn't it? I'm thinking we should definitely do a bloggie meet so I can see that baby belly of yours! :)
Tee hee hee, he is so cute!!!! Way too cute to cause trouble;) I'm way impressed that you are tackling these big projects yourself...with power tools...and a toddler...and while being prego!!! More power to ya, girl!
Uh oh...the climbing begins!
He's so cute! Good luck on your projects, you ROCK, seriously!
Great progress :)
A friend and I already planned our Pumpkin Spice Latte date at Starbucks...can't wait!
