P is for progress.

If haven't mentioned lately how much I loathe summer, allow me to reemphasize: I loathe summer. It isn't about being pregnant in the heat, it's really just the heat itself. I like to be outside and so does my kid, and the heat we've had this year has made being outside quite intolerable. I cannot express how much I'm looking forward to some cooler temperatures. And pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks. It's one thing when it's hot during the day, but when the heat index is still 100 degrees at 10 o clock at night, that's another. Those are the conditions of which I've been working in to get these projects built. I wait until Cameron goes to bed to do most of the work, and even then, I'm still working up a massive sweat.
the bookshelf beginnings

Initially, my goal was to build the bookshelf first, and then build the bed without any really pressing need for it right away; I just wanted to get it done before it was physically impossible for me to finish it. We weren't planning to move him to his new bed until late fall, or near his 2nd birthday in December. We weren't going to that is, until today, when our toddler turned into an escape artist and climbed out of his crib after I put him down for his nap. He opened his door and walked out like he had been doing it for months! I knew this day would come, I just hoped it would be later rather than sooner. I'd convert his crib into the toddler bed right now, but we don't have the kit and ordering it would take awhile, and I could just save the money.
who, me? climb out of the crib? That must have been my stunt double.

So it's looking like I'm going to have to finish out this bookcase tonight (since the high today is only 93), and get started right away with his bed. Busy weekend ahead!

I'm am so thankful that Riley hasn't figured out how to get out of his bed yet! He'll be 2 in Sept so I'm sure the time will come soon enough! It's been nasty hot here in Kansas City hasn't it? I'm thinking we should definitely do a bloggie meet so I can see that baby belly of yours! :)
