Guest bathroom: not complete.

I was hoping to bring good news this weekend and post pictures of the long awaited guest bathroom re-do. Sadly, that isn't the case. For some reason the builders felt it necessary to mount the cheap towel bars on planks of wood. I unscrewed the towel bars from the wood, but then couldn't get the wood planks off the wall. So I enlisted in the help of my (usually handy) husband to get these hideous "architectural" details off the wall before I painted it.
And this is how the rest of the story unfolds:
I stand in the bathroom looking over his shoulder to see exactly how he's about to get these off the wall. Apparently, he can't work in the same room with me blabbing in his ear giving tips on how to do this (disclaimer: I knew how to get them off, all I needed was his muscle strength) So I left the bathroom. I came back 2 minutes later and found this:

Hopefully, we can get the other wood plank off the wall without tragedy. So my goal this week is to a) get this large hole patched up, and b) get this project completed. It is my hope to bring you pictures very soon.

So if there's one thing I'm good for...

...It's designated driving. Yep, Saturday night I will be DD'ing for our good friends (who happen to be our next-door neighbors) while we're out celebrating Andrea's 30th birthday! It should be fun- I'm pretty stoked! There must be some kind of reward (like, a cool blinky badge or something) for me being such a Good Samaritan, right? For volunteering to keep the roads safe and the world a better place? For bettering mankind by showing just how cool it is to be the "safe ride?"
Well, it may not be my birthday but I felt I needed a new pair of jeans for my good deeds (and because these days, nothing in my closet fits). So I cruised over to The Gap and found these cute trouser jeans- for just $59.50! I'll be able to wear them to work, too because they are a nicer, dressy denim. I think this model makes them look a little masculine- so I might have to take a snapshot, because they really look good on!

Leslie needs a vacation.

Like, NOW.
My job is 98% stress free, but today fell in the stressful 2% category. I was fighting tears on multiple occasions today- and realized that I need to plan a getaway this summer. A babymoon, perhaps?
I'm thinking...

A fun and relaxing beach with plenty of (virgin) pina coladas....

Or maybe a relaxing stay at this Sanctuary Spa in Paradise Valley, Arizona. An infinity pool? Luxurious mountainside rooms?

Which one would you do?

Weekend fun!

This past weekend we made a 2 hour drive north to Manhattan/Fort Riley to attend my cousin's wedding. We had a great time and it was good to see my family! Here are a few pictures...

Hottest soon-to-be-parents of the year? What do you think? =)

My little cousins (who aren't so little anymore)!

This week, I WILL....

...complete my guest bathroom redo.
I blogged a few months ago about getting the OK from my husband to redo the bathroom, and since then, my energy to do so fizzled. Usually I'm always on the hunt for home decor items anywhere I go, and I'll often find myself swiping that plastic card before I even think about calling my husband to get the OK. Lately, I've been stuck in a "decor rut" (which is probably healthier for my bank account anyway), but I have finally worked up the energy to get this done! I created this idea board to put together what I had it mind shortly after I had the itch to redo this bathroom. WDYT?

1. Bathroom artwork- free! Dug sketches out of my college portfolio and framed them.
2. Mist Surf by Valspar. $25
3. Towels from Target, $9.99
4. Faucet from Home Depot, $44, already installed!
6. Looking for a light fixture similar to this (approx $50?)
7. Shower curtain from Restoration Hardware, regularly $79, on sale for $25 at store closing!

I will be sure and post pics when it's complete!

Well, here I am!

I've been slacking on my blog updates.... and you KNOW you've missed me.
So it's been WEEKS (!) since i've visited my dear blog. And, my apologies to those who read regularly- I hope you haven't kicked me to the curb. Alot has happened in these past few weeks, so here in no particular order are my reasons excuses for neglecting my blog.
  1. It's been far to nice outside to come home from work each day and sit in front of the computer- especially when that's all I had been doing for the past 8 hours at work. I have found myself coming home, putting on my tennis shoes and hitting the open air for brisk walks.
  2. We are expecting! Yep, apparently all that spring-love-in-the-air thing really held true for us. I have been so exhausted- therefore making me too tired to think of anything creative to tell you all about. No complaints thus far, except that my boobs hurt like heck and one of the suckers (pun, intended) seems to be growing faster than the other. But that will balance out, right? I have had no sickness (crossing fingers) yet, but I have been craving waffles- and not the "eggo" waffles. I crave the real ones- you know, the belgian ones that you can cram butter in each of the deep little pockets? The ones you make with a waffle iron? I had to go out and buy one so I could satisfy that craving.

Alas, I am out of excuses. Indeed, I thought I had a few more (or, more than 2!), but I don't. I promise though, that I will post more often. And don't worry kids, this isn't about to become a baby blog full of all the coolest strollers and burp cloths. In the meantime, my Jayhawks are about to kick some Tarheel a$$ tonight, so I'm out. Gotta go get into game mode.
